PCSAR Francs Peak 9.3.24

Airplane Crash on Francs Peak

September 3, 2024

Mary Lou Sanderson, 78, of Lake Havasu, Arizona, died of injuries sustained from an airplane crash near Francs Peak in Meeteetse on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at approximately 11:00am.  She was a passenger. The pilot is alive and being treated for his injuries in Billings, Montana (Statement courtesy of the Park County Sheriff's Office and the Park County Coroner's Office).

Park County Search & Rescue members responded immediately to the scene and stabilized the pilot for transport via emergency medical helicopter flight service (Photo Courtesy of Park County Search & Rescue).

Cooke City Flood

“In 2022 our neighbors in Cooke City, MT experienced historic floods affecting numerous residences in the area. Park County SAR water rescue team members assisted Cook City Fire in accessing and evacuating victims.”
